Police are investigating the fatal shooting of a 28-year-old Wilmington man.
The victim, Ricky English of N. Walnut Street in Wilmington, was pronounced dead on arrival at Christiana Hospital.
Shortly before 2 a.m. Saturday, Wilmington officers on patrol heard shots being fired nearby. While heading toward the sound of gunfire, their police car was struck by a gray Dodge Shadow driving in the wrong direction in the 700 block of of W. 8th Street.
After impact, three men left the car to flee on foot, and one threw a handgun onto a nearby roof.
Police apprehended all three suspects. No charges have been made at this time.
