A woman is in the hospital after police say she struck several cars before her own vehicle burst into flames.

The woman was driving a station wagon in the Wynnefield Heights section of the city around 5 a.m. when she somehow lost control of her vehicle at the intersection of Monument Road and City Avenue.

The woman’s car struck three other vehicles. After crews got the woman out of her car, it suddenly caught fire.

The woman was taken to the hospital and treated for minor injuries. Firefighters were able to put out the blaze.

Officials are currently investigating whether the woman was intoxicated at the time of the accident. Stay with NBC10.com for more details on this developing story.
