Candy Manufacturer Recalls DOVE Holiday Chocolates Amid Allergy Concern

A popular candy manufacturer has recalled seasonal chocolates sold across the country over potential allergens — including wheat, peanuts and egg — not listed on the label.

Mars Chocolate North America recalled 24-ounce bags of DOVE Chocolate Assortment Snowflakes on Friday.

The company said about 6,700 cases of the chocolates, which come in a purple bag, may contain pieces of Snickers, Milky Way and Twix candy bars that have peanuts, wheat or eggs in them. Those ingredients are not listed on the DOVE chocolate label.

According to the Food and Drug Administration, the affected chocolates were sold from Sept. 19 through Dec. 1 through in more than 30 states, including Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Illinois, Connecticut, Maine, New York, Massachusetts, Texas, Florida, Rhode Island, Virginia, Maryland, Vermont and California, among others.

No adverse reactions had been reported, according to the FDA, which said the recall was issued after a consumer noticed a Snickers piece in a DOVE assortment and alerted the company.

Customers can return the recalled chocolate for full refunds and may contact the company at 1-800-551-0907 with questions or concerns.

The recall affects UPC number 400050521 and the following lot codes: 537CG4PA30, 537DG4PA30, 538AG4PA30, 538AM4PA30, 541AG4PA20, 542EM4PA20.
