Camden Police Find Weapons, Drugs in Abandoned Garage

Camden police have seized a cache of weapons and drugs from an abandoned garage that was an apparent hangout for drug dealers.

Police say they made the find early Wednesday evening while searching for a person reported to be driving recklessly on an ATV.

In an open garage police say they recovered a number of weapons, including two assault-style rifles, three semi-automatic handguns and an automatic pistol.

Officers also recovered 28 small bags of suspected cocaine, over 100 small bags of suspected heroin, a bulletproof vest, ammunition and two stolen vehicles.

The fully automatic pistol they grabbed had an extended clip capable of holding 30 rounds of ammunition.

Police Chief J. Scott Thomson calls the seized weapons “instruments of the drug trade” which posed a danger to citizens and police alike.
