Camden County Man Charged With Attempting to Set Mother, Home on Fire: Police

Police say the man poured lighter fluid on himself, his mother and another man then threatened to light a match

Police charged a Camden County man with attempting to set himself, his elderly mother and another man on fire inside his home early Sunday morning.

It happened around 1 a.m. at a home on Marino Avenue in the Blenheim section of Gloucester Township.

Investigators say Paul Dobrzynksi, 43, sprayed lighter fluid on himself, his mother, and another man and allegedly threatened to light a match and kill everyone. A fourth person who was inside the home at the time of the alleged incident ran to a neighbor’s home and called police, authorities say. Investigators say Dobrzynksi was intoxicated.

Police later discovered that Dobrzynksi also blew out the pilot lights on the stove causing natural gas to fill the home. Police were able to shut off gas to the home.  Firefighters from the Blenheim and Glendora Fire Departments ventilated the home. No one was injured.

Dobrzynksi is charged with two counts of Criminal Attempt Homicide, Criminal Attempt Aggravated Arson, and Terroristic Threats.

His is being held on $600,000 cash bail.
