Camden Schools, Teachers Get Six-Figure Financial Boost

Camden City School District officials have announced that the district received a $250,000 grant for teachers to use on learning-based project resources.

The Philadelphia Inquirer reports the funds were donated by John Langan and Judith Nadell, a married couple who both work for West Berlin-based education publisher Townsend Press.

Money will be available to Camden teachers who post prospective projects on DonorsChoose.org, a crowdfunding site similar to Kickstarter.

Officials say teachers are advised to post projects totaling $1,000 or less. Once educators secure half of their project's cost through the site, the grant funding will cover the rest.

Superintendent Paymon Rouhanifard says the grant will allow students to "innovate with more technology, create with more art supplies and experience more hands-on learning opportunities."
