Stray Bullets Strike, Kill Woman in Her Home

A woman died overnight after apparent stray bullets sprayed through her South Jersey home.

Investigators worked through the morning to try and figure out what led to Consuelo Lowber, 53, being shot inside her home on the 1200 block of Mechanic Street in Camden around 2:20 a.m.

Camden County Prosecutor's Office Sgt. Critt DeCristofor confirmed that Lowber died from multiple gunshot wounds but didn’t reveal specific details about the case.

Three bullet holes could be seen in the window screen and frame at the home. Detectives scoured the seen outside the home looking for bullet casings.

A man who identified himself as the landlord of the home told NBC10's Monique Braxton that Lowber had just returned home and was sitting by the front window when she was shot.

She later died at the hospital.

The landlord said that other people were also in the home at the time and they he didn't believe the victim was targeted.
