    Police suspect that foul play may be involved after a body was found in a burned car in Southwest Philadelphia Monday.

    Emergency crews made a grisly discovery this morning inside a burning car.

    A neighbor near the 1900 block of South 55th Street near Paschall Avenue in Southwest Philadelphia called 911 around 3:30 a.m. Monday morning after seeing a car fire.

    Authorities arrived to find a 2009 Nissan Maxima with New Jersey plates on fire. Crews worked quickly to bring the fire under control. Once they knocked the flames down they discovered this was more than just a fire investigation..

    "The (firefighters) extinguished the fire and after they extinguished the fire they found a body in the backseat of the car," said Philadelphia Police Capt. George Fuchs.

    The coroner and Philadelphia Police homicide detectives were investigating the incident, which happened near some train tracks.

    There was no immediate word on how the man likely died.
