Police arrested two men who allegedly burglarized over two dozen homes in Burlington County and Camden County over the past several months.

Police say they’ve investigated 27 home burglaries in the two counties since October 2011. The burglary victims reported that cash, jewelry, antiques, electronics, coins and other items valued at over $2 million have been stolen over the course of the crime spree.

Officers and detectives from several counties formed a Task Force to investigate the burglaries. Through their investigation they identified Darious Gittens, 58, of Medford and Geoffrey Petit, 47, also of Medford as the two suspects. Police arrested both men on September 5. They also executed search warrants on their homes and vehicles, recovering over 400 items believed to be stolen during the burglaries, according to investigators.

Police arrested Gittens and Petit a second time on Friday. They were both charged with burglary, theft, criminal mischief, possession of a stun gun and other related offenses. Petit was also charged with impersonating a public servant.

Gittens was remanded to the Camden County Jail in lieu of $150,000 bail. Petit was remanded to the Burlington County Jail in lieu of $230,000 bail.

Police plan to display the stolen items to the victims in an effort to return the recovered property.
