Stray Bullet Narrowly Misses Pregnant Woman in Grays Ferry

A barrage of bullets in a Philadelphia neighborhood sent two men to the hospital and narrowly missed a pregnant woman.

The shooting happened about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 1800 block of S. 30th Street in the city’s Grays Ferry neighborhood.

According to investigators, a 22-year-old male and a 20-year-old male were sitting on the front porch when a gunman approached and opened fire.

The 22-year-old male was shot once in each leg. The 20-year-old male was struck in the foot and lower back.

The males were taken from the scene by a private vehicle to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in stable condition.

Chief Inspector Scott Small said a 29-year-old female, who is six months pregnant, was standing near the front door when the gunfire rang out. A bullet missed her by about three feet, but she was not injured, Small said.

Small said at least 24 shots were fired.

Investigators are currently reviewing surveillance video as part of the investigation.
