Bulldog Blog: We've Got Spirit

Sports are important at any high school. But at Lower Merion, we take things to the next level when it comes to our school sports.

Forget about “Kobe” and LM basketball for just a moment and lets talk spirit. For instance, this week all the sports teams played our big rival Radnor High School.

In order to get into game mood all the players took part in a “blackout.” During the blackout the field hockey team dressed up in all black including eye black. In the past the teams have dressed up as preppy school kids and even cowgirls.

Now, once basketball comes around, so does the “Dawg Pound” (no it’s not my blog’s following) -- the basketball team’s own cheering section. There’s no other place to watch a Lower Merion basketball game than in the “Dawg Pound.” They even have their own shirts made ever year.

The loud (and admittedly at times obnoxious) droves of LM student fans always show off their schools spirit. It helps that the basketball team isn’t that bad -- back in 2006 they won the whole thing.

Look forward to talking to you guys next week.
