Hat, Glasses, Coat Serves as Clues After Hunter Discovers Human Skeletal Remains in New Jersey Woods

A hat, glasses, a bright-colored coat, a cellphone and a backpack served as clues as New Jersey State Police tried to identify human skeletal remains found in a secluded section of woods.

A hunter made the grisly discovery off of U.S. Route 40, near Main Avenue, in Buena Vista Township around 10 a.m. Thursday.

Police responded to the scene to find several items near the body including a black baseball cap with “Puerto Rico” written on it multiple times, a red windbreaker with “N.Y.C. Lifeguard Dept. of Parks" on the back, prescription eyeglasses and a green backpack with a black LG cellphone inside.

State Police asked that anyone who recognizes any of the items or knows about the remains to give them a call at 609-561-1800, extension 3355.
