Pregnant Suburban Band Teacher Accused of Having Sex With Teen

A pregnant band teacher in the Central Bucks County School District is accused of having sex with a teen boy.

Bridgett Szychulski, 31, had a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old student in 2012, police said. She was a band teacher at Lenape Middle School in Doylestown Borough at the time.

Szychulski is accused of having sex with the boy three times and sending him lewd text messages.

The investigation began last week after someone called in an anonymous tip to a child abuse hotline.

The teacher, who is now pregnant, was arraigned Tuesday afternoon. She's facing multiple charges including Involuntary Deviate Sexual Intercourse and Statutory Sex Assault. She has been suspended from her teaching duties in the Central Bucks district.

Szychulski and her attorney, William Goldman, didn't speak to reporters after Tuesday's arraignment. A preliminary hearing is set for Oct. 6.

The Bucks County District Attorney publicly thanked the school district for their cooperation in the incident.

"In this case, mandated reporters followed the Protection from Abuse Law and as a result, a professional and successful investigation was conducted and an arrest was made," said DA David Heckler.

Officials are asking that anyone else who may have had inappropriate contact with Szychulski to contact police.
