An older brother fired the gunshot that took the life of his 11-year-old sister in their Westtown home, according to police. But investigators were not giving out any more information on Monday about the shooting.
"It's ridiculously devastating," one neighbor told The Daily Times. That neighbor was checking their mail Friday afternoon around 3:30 when the boy came out of his house, crying.
"It is ridiculously devastating. . .I don't even know how to put it into words . . . This family needs support."
Another neighbor who didn't want to be identified, recalled seeing both kids take walks with their mom when they were younger.
"They were just a happy family, a very happy family." He said he hopes the community focuses most right now on supporting the family.
"Hold this family up," he said. "Don't tear this kid apart."
