Bridge Rehab Changes PATCO Train Schedule

Commuters who ride PATCO trains between New Jersey and Philadelphia are likely to face delays and crowded cars.

The railroad started operating under a revised schedule Friday as part of a $103 million rail rehabilitation project gets underway.

The changes will last approximately two months and PATCO says it's designed to minimize construction-related, rush-hour congestion during the first phase of the Ben Franklin Bridge Rehabilitation Project. The second phase will begin at the end of August.

Tracks on the south side of the bridge are closed and passengers may face scheduled 30-minute gaps in service. Some trains will run every 5 minutes.

PATCO will run alternating eastbound and westbound trains across the bridge on one track instead of two.
