A 6-year-old boy who was hit by a school bus last week has died of his injuries

A 6-year-old boy who was hit by a school bus last Wednesday afternoon has died of his injuries.

The Pickering Valley Elementary School first grader died Tuesday after being hospitalized since the June 16 accident, say police.

The young child was struck just before 4 p.m. at Ferncroft Lane and Sunderland Avenue in Chester Springs, Pa. and was airlifted to A.I. DuPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, Del.

Police say the boy apparently darted in front of the bus after being dropped off by the same bus but an investigating is ongoing.

Authorities have declined to release the boy's name.
