Boy Shot Over Cell Phone

A 13-year-old boy was shot in Oxford Circle during a robbery.

The thieves got away with a cell phone.

The victim was on the 1500 block of McKinley Street in Philadelphia just after midnight on Sunday when he was approached by two assailants.

Police said the suspects were young men themselves, between the ages of 15 and 18.  The victim said that the two young men brandished a small pistol and asked him for narcotics.  At some point, they relieved him of his Cricket cell phone.

The two robbery suspects, still holding the gun, told the 13-year-old not to run away. That's when he turned and fled. As he was running, the youth said he felt a pain in his leg.

The victim ran all the way to his home, on the 6200 block of Sounder Street, where he realized that he had been shot, in the upper thigh. The police were called, and the young man was transported to St. Christoper hospital, where he is in stable condition.
