An alleged “Bonnie and Clyde” couple was arrested Monday after an armed robbery led to a shooting in Upper Dublin Township, according to police.
On Monday around 5:13 a.m., police responded to a reported armed robbery at the Rite Aid Pharmacy on the 1200 block of Bethlehem Pike in Upper Dublin Township. According to investigators, a man and a woman entered the store and at least one of them pointed a weapon at an employee while handing over a note demanding drugs. They then allegedly stole several pill bottles before fleeing the scene on foot.
As they fled, a shot was fired from their weapon but no employees were hurt, according to police.
Upper Dublin Police, Montgomery County Detectives and Horsham Township Police all joined in the search for the suspects, who were later identified as William Carpenter, 33, and his wife, 34-year-old Tanitra Thompson Carpenter, both of Horsham Township.
Investigators found the couple at the Residence Inn in Horsham Township. During the arrest, police discovered Tanitra Carpenter had a gunshot wound to her right calf. She was taken to Abington Memorial Hospital for treatment.
Police have not yet revealed the specific charges against the couple.
