Bon Jovi Answering a Prayer in Camden

Jon Bon Jovi is rocking the playground today, as he helps build a much-needed respite for kids in Camden, N.J.

Well known for his charitable organizations and philanthropy in the Philadelphia-New Jersey area, Bon Jovi turns his sights to the poorest city in his home state this morning.

The Rafael Cordero Molina Elementary school will be benefitting from the rock star’s hard labor today. Simultaneously, the Jon Bon Jovi Soul Association partners with the Camden City Garden Club and the Camden CommunityGreenUp to clean vacant lots in the city and turn them into green spaces beginning 9 a.m. Monday.

Camden has been ranked among the top five cities in the U.S. to have the highest crime rate. The high crime rate and the city’s poverty make the creation of a playground and the cleaning up of trash lots, a well needed help.

Bon Jovi is also involved in a project to provide affordable housing in Newark.
