Bomb Squad Investigates ‘Destructive Devices' Found in Del. Home

While state police and the bomb squad have been camped out at the home all day, police say there is no danger to the public

UPDATE: The Delaware State Fire Marshal said Kevin Beal of the unit block of Heron Court in Dear, Del. turned himself into police Wednesday.

Beal is accused of manufacturing and possessing an explosive device, according to the Fire Marshal.

The 47-year-old Beal was charged with possessing an explosive device and reckless endangerment. He was being held on $8,000 bail, authorities said.


Delaware State Fire Marshals were called to a Newark, Del., home Wednesday morning after a resident called 911 reporting a suspicious package found inside the home.

Police are only called the items found as “destructive devices” as they still investigating at the home on the block of Egrit Court in Sparrow Run Wednesday afternoon.

Residents at the home told NBC10 Philadelphia that the incident has to do with an on-going problem with a family member who was living at the home until last week.

State police and a bomb squad were still at the home as of 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The area around the home has been blocked off by police, but police said at 4 p.m. that there was no danger to the public at that time.
