Police are investigating a fatal car fire in Northeast Philadelphia.

Car Fire Death Likely a Suicide: Cops

Police say the victim's family revealed he was suffering from depression. At this point they say his death appears to be a suicide though they have not yet confirmed.

Police are investigating a fatal car fire in Northeast Philadelphia.

Firefighters responded to the fire at a Macy’s parking lot on Cottman Avenue around 7 p.m. Investigators say they found a green Honda Civic fully engulfed in flames and a gas canister outside of the vehicle. They also say the victim was on fire next to the car door.

Firefighters extinguished the flames but the man had died at the scene.

Investigators say the victim is 47-years-old. They also say the victim's family revealed he was suffering from depression. At this point they say his death appears to be a suicide though they have not yet confirmed.
