Men Found Shot to Death Inside Car Parked in Berks County Lot

State police and the coroner's office investigated the discovery of two bodies found in a parked car near state game lands in eastern Pennsylvania's Berks County.

Authorities said a person driving by a parking lot off Forgedale Road near Anthony's Mills Road in a remote part of Washington Township reported seeing the bodies shortly around 6:15 a.m. Friday.

Trooper David Beohm, a state police spokesman, identified the bodies as 20-year-old Joseph McCullough III, of Pottstown, Pennsylvania and 27-year-old Stephen Mixon, also of Pottstown.

Both men died of apparent gunshot wounds, said police. An autopsy scheduled for Saturday could give an exact cause of death.

Investigators said that no one else was involved in the shooting and that there is no threat to the public.

Anyone who had contact with either McCullough or Mixon within the day before their deaths was asked to call police at 610-378-4011.
