Twice in 10 days a black sport utility vehicle approached girls walking along a North Philadelphia street and tried to force them into the vehicle and police are looking into if the incidents could be connected.
The incidents played out less than half a mile away, said Philadelphia Police Special Victims Unit.
The first incident occurred Apr18 at B Street and Lehigh Avenue as a 12-year-old girl walked in the area between 3 to 4 p.m. A man with gray hair pulled up and asked for the girl to get into his black SUV, said police.
The girl ran off toward SEPTA Market-Frankford Lineβs Huntingdon Station as the SUV drove off, said police.
Then, on April 28, around 3:30 p.m. a black SUV β possibly a Chevrolet Blazer or GMC Envoy β with two men inside pulled up a 13-year-old girl at N Howard and W Cambria streets and one man got out. That man β described as husky man in his 50s with a black and gray beard β tried to grab the girl causing her to scream and run off, said police.
The man then got back into the SUV β driven by a man in his 30s or 40s with gray hair and drove off.
Police said the SUV in the second incident had Pennsylvania plates starting with βB.β
