Black Bear Climbs Backyard Playground

Another day, another bear sighting in our area. A local woman sent NBC10 photos of a black bear in Buckingham Township, Bucks County.

The bear was seen perched on top of a playground set in the backyard of a home on Springtown Road and Winter Bridge Lane. Police say the bear eventually left the yard and was spotted later on about a mile away on Swamp Road and Lower Mountain Road.

It was the latest of several bear sightings that have been reported in the area.

On June 7, a black bear was spotted several times in Princeton, New Jersey. Princeton Police confirmed that the bear was seen on the 200 block of Mt. Lucas Road as well as the 900 block of Stuart Road. The bear was also spotted on the Princeton University campus around 2:30 a.m. Saturday morning.

Last month, a black bear was spotted in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. After wandering for several days, the 3-year-old male bear was tranquilized and captured.

Officials warn residents to never feed or approach a bear, remain calm and avoid direct eye contact. For more bear safety tips, click here.
