Jimmy Binns Arrested in NJ Neighbor Dispute

Famous lawyer allegedly involved in ongoing dispute with a neighbor

Attorney James “Jimmy” Binns, the former Pennsylvania Boxing Commissioner who had roles in the last two Rocky films and is a member of the state’s boxing Hall of Fame, was arrested Tuesday afternoon in Margate, according to police in the Jersey Shore town.

Binns, 72, was arrested by Margate Police around 12:15 after allegedly damaging a neighbor’s air conditioner on Amherst Avenue.

The alleged incident was part of an ongoing property dispute with his neighbor, cops said.

He was charged with criminal mischief and released on his own recognizance, officials said.

Binns is known for his cameos in Rocky 5, Rocky Balboa and three other films as well as his philanthropy work as the chairman of the Hero Thrill Show and his work to have memorial plaques dedicated in the memory of fallen police officers and firefighters.

A hearing date for Binns was set for next month.

In an interesting twist, Binns is listed as an Honorary Margate Police Chief, according to JamesBinns.net.

He is a sworn Special Assistant District Attorney for Montgomery County,  a sworn Special Deputy Sheriff for Chester County and a sworn County Detective in the Montgomery County District Attorney’s office. He is an honorary member of the New Jersey Policemen’s Benevolent Association and he has been inducted into the Law Enforcement Hall of Fame.
