Bike Giveaway Brings Christmas Early for South Phily Kids

More than 100 children got at least one Christmas present early as a Pennsylvania lawmaker handed out bikes to Philly kids Wednesday.

"My goal is for 10 years from now somebody to remember we gave them their first bike." said State Rep. Jordan Harris (D - Phila.), who hosted the Christmas Eve giveaway at the Yesha Fellowship Hall at 2308 Snyder Ave.

Along with the bikes, more than 60 tablets were given away to high school students.

All recipients live in the 186th District, which covers neighborhoods in southwest Philly, including Point Breeze, Grays Ferry and Kingsessing.

Harris started the event last year.
