Bethlehem Police Department Loses Explosives-Detecting K-9 Officer Rexo to Cancer

A Lehigh Valley police department mourned one of its own after losing a K-9 officer trained to deal with explosives.

Bethlehem Police Department K-9 Officer Rexo died Sunday morning after a brief battle with untreatable cancer, said the police department.

Rexo assisted the department as a patrol officer and in detecting explosives.

The 9-year-old German Shepard’s partner, Officer Jason Ebert, was with Rexo during his final moments.

"Our condolences go out to Officer Ebert who lost a partner and friend," said a release from police.
