Pa. Teen Remains Behind Bars on School Theft Charges

Police say the teen stole $400 from one of the classrooms

A student accused of breaking into several classrooms at his Berks County high school and stealing about $400 has waived a court hearing and been returned to jail unable to post bail.

The Reading Eagle reports Daniel Schnable, 18, was sent back to Berks County Prison on Tuesday after the proceeding in Birdsboro. The Daniel Boone High School senior is being held on $10,000 bail, according to court records.

State police allege Schnable entered three classrooms on Feb. 19 and took about $400 from one of them. Officials say he also caused about $1,000 in damage when he smashed windows in the classroom doors.

He was arrested two days later and charged with burglary, criminal trespass and other counts. It wasn't immediately clear if he had an attorney and a telephone listing for him couldn't be found.
