Murder-Suicide Ruled in Deaths of Pennsylvania Men Found in Parked Car

Almost a week after a passerby came upon the bodies of two men inside a parked car near state game lands in eastern Pennsylvania, authorities ruled on the causes of death.

The Berks County Coroner's office, Berks County District Attorney and Pennsylvania State Police joined together to rule the deaths of Joseph McCullough III and Stephen Mixon a murder-suicide.

Authorities ruled that McCullough used a .38 caliber revolver to shoot Mixon before turning the gun on himself.

Authorities said a person driving by a parking lot off Forgedale Road near Anthony's Mills Road in a remote part of Washington Township reported seeing the bodies shortly around 6:15 a.m. Friday.

Trooper David Beohm, a state police spokesman, identified the bodies as 20-year-old McCullough, of Pottstown, Pennsylvania and 27-year-old Mixon, also of Pottstown.
