Berks Co. Native Among Buffalo Plane Crash Victims

30-year-old Lorin Maurer, a native of Sinking Spring, Pa., was one of 49 people on board Continental Connection Flight 3407 when it crashed Thursday night outside Buffalo, New York.

She was living in Princeton, N.J. The death was confirmed on Princeton University's Athletic site.

Maurer was a 2001 graduate of Rowan University in Glassboro, N.J. where she was a swimmer, a three-time Academic All-American and she was the 2000 New Jersey Athletic Conference Swimmer of the Year, according to Princeton's release.

She worked as the Athletics Friends Manager for the Princeton University Department of Athletics and Office of Development. She helped raise funds for the University's athletic teams.

“We are stunned, grief-stricken and angry that someone so young and full of promise and vitality was taken from us so suddenly and unexpectedly,” said Princeton Director of Athletics Gary Walters.

“We can only think that we never appreciate what we have until it is taken from us,” said Walters.

Maurer was traveling to Buffalo to attend the wedding of her boyfriend Kevin Kuwik's brothers wedding, according to the Buffalo News.

Princeton will be holding a moment of silence in memory of Maurer before all weekend events and at Friday's basketball game at Yale University.
