School Bus Mechanic Stole $400K in Parts: Cops

School district employee accused of using position as head mechanic at bus yard to steal more than $400K in vehicle parts

Police in Bucks County arrested man Monday after an ongoing investigation uncovered at least of decade of alleged thefts from a school district bus garage.

Bensalem Police say Frederick Lange, 67, of a Croydon, Pa. used his job as lead mechanic and shop foreman for the Bensalem Township School District bus yard to steal vehicle parts over a 10 to 14 year period and resell those items for hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Those part including truck tires, batteries and other accessories total more than $400,000, Bensalem Police said.

Frederick Lange is accused of stealing more than $400,000 in vehicle parts.

A Magisterial District Court judge arraigned Lange on theft and related charges. Lange posted 10 percent of $200,000 cash bail Tuesday, according to court records.
