A Poconos area barber has been jailed on criminal homicide, aggravated assault and other charges because police say he fatally beat another barber who worked in the same shop.

Shawn Develvet, 48, of Tobyhanna, Pa. remained jailed Friday after being denied bail as the Monroe County coroner planned an autopsy on his alleged victim, Quentin Thomas, 34.

State police say they responded to a reported fight at the Stylez Barber Shop on Route 196 in Coolbaugh Township and arrived to find Thomas badly beaten but still conscious in a chair outside the shop about 3 p.m. Thursday.

Thomas died about 40 minutes later at Pocono Medical Center and Pocono Mountain Regional Police Chief Harry Lewis says, “the fight caused his death.”

Online court records show Develvet is represented by the public defender, who could not immediately be reached before regular business hours Friday.
