Bank Robber Dresses as Muslim Woman: Police

Philadelphia Police and the FBI are searching for a man responsible for the armed robbery of the Sovereign Bank at Germantown Avenue on Tuesday. Police also say that the same man robbed the bank back on August 9.

Authorities say that the suspect was dressed in female Muslim attire during Tuesday’s robbery, including a long black dress, white jacket and a hijab covering his head and face.

During the robbery back in August, police say the suspect wore a wig and a long dress. Police also say that during both robberies, the suspect had a gun, threatened employees and demanded cash.

The suspect is described as a black male in his 30s, between 5-foot-6 and 5-foot-8 with a thin build. During the August robbery he was reportedly clean-shaven.

The man is considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information should contact the Philadelphia Police Department or the FBI’s Violent Crime Task Force at 215.418.4000.
