Baby Shower Balloon Causes Pregnant Woman's Crash

Authorities say a pregnant woman had to be extricated from her car after a baby shower balloon drifted into her view, causing her to swerve and strike a tree.

Franklin Township police tell NJ.com that the crash occurred around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, shortly after the 28-year-old township resident had left the shower.

Police say the balloon floated from the rear compartment of the vehicle and into her field of view, causing her to swerve. The vehicle then hit the curb, went off the roadway and struck a tree before it overturned.

The woman was treated at a hospital for pain in her chest and arm and lacerations to her hands. It did not appear that she suffered any complications related to her pregnancy.
