Baby Rescued After Center City Carjacking

Police arrested the suspect after chasing him on foot.

Philadelphia police arrested a man after allegedly stealing a car in Center City while a 9-month old baby was still inside.

It happened around 9 p.m. Saturday on 10th and Arch Street when a man jumped into the front seat of Risheen Crosland’s car while he was tending to his son who was in a car seat in the back.

“I said ‘Sir, please let my son out the car. I see the car speed off, my son is still in the car. I’m thinking I am never going to see him again,” said Crosland.

Crosland managed to call 9-1-1 while suspect fled. The car eventually crashed into another car before it stopped. Six officers rushed to cut the child out of the car and out of the seat. Police arrested the suspect after chasing him on foot.

“I thank God. It could have been worse. I could be planning a funeral but because of the grace of God and his goodness, I have my son,” said Crosland.
