Authorities: Distraught Woman Crashes Into Police Cruiser

Authorities say a distraught woman who was trying to drive away from police instead crashed into a police cruiser in a neighboring town.

Edison police tell The Star-Ledger that the woman suffered minor injuries and was taken to a hospital for observation. Her name was not disclosed.

It was not clear if any officers were injured in the incident, which started around 4 p.m. Sunday.

Authorities say the incident began in Edison and involved a township police cruiser, but the collision occurred in Piscataway, near the boundary that separates the two municipalities.

No charges have been filed, but the investigation is ongoing.
