Attack Ads Begin in Governor's Race

Four new ads are launching onto TV sets in the governor's race, and three have one thing in common: They attack the presumed Democratic front-runner, Tom Wolf.

The ads released Friday raise the total to at least five TV attack ads in two weeks against Wolf, the leader of a York-based building products company.

The attack ads are being aired by two competing Democrats, state Treasurer Rob McCord and U.S. Rep. Allyson Schwartz, and by Republican Gov. Tom Corbett.

Wolf's front-runner status is at least partly because his campaign is outspending the others, largely thanks to $10 million he gave his campaign. He borrowed almost half of it from a bank.

Wolf also released a new ad featuring York Mayor Kim Bracey defending him.
