2nd Arrest in West Philly Tire Slashings

Second person accused in connection to the slashing of dozens of tires

A second person was arrested over the weekend and charged in connection to tire slashings in West Philadelphia earlier this year.

Aleze Lewis, 36, was charged with dozens of counts of criminal mischief and was being held on $280,000 bail, according to Philadelphia' District Attorney's Office.

In the days after the incident, Lewis told NBC10 that she was there when the tires were slashed but she denied vandalizing the vehicles.

"I'm gonna prove that I didn't slash no tires," Lewis told NBC10 after she was questioned in the case.

Earlier, Harry Gaines, 27, was arrested and charged with criminal conspiracy, criminal mischief and other charges.

The slashings occurred before dawn on Jan. 7 on the 4700 to 5000 block of Hazel Avenue and on the 5300 block of Chancellor.

Surveillance video showed a man and woman walking down the street around 5:30 a.m., the same time the tires on 59 cars were slashed. The video also shows the man bending over to puncture two tires and cutting more tires as he makes he way down the street.
