Arrest Made in Shooting Outside French Montana's Tour Bus

Police have not yet revealed whether King was the suspect's intended target.

Police have made an arrest in a shooting that left one man dead and another injured outside French Montana's tour bus last week on Penn's Landing.

On Thursday, shortly before midnight, police say rapper French Montana and his entourage were getting off their tour bus at the Holiday Inn on Columbus Boulevard and Race Street when someone in black sedan driving by opened fire.

Jowann King, 26, from Flushing, N.Y. was shot in the stomach, according to authorities. He was rushed to Hahnemann University Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A second man, Granville Thompson, 28, was also hit in the shoulder. He was treated at Jefferson University Hospital and released shortly after, police said. Investigators say two people returned fire after the initial shots rang out. Three people were taken into custody for carrying guns.

On Tuesday, police announced they arrested Frank Briggs, 20, for the shooting. Briggs is charged with murder, attempted murder, aggravated assault and other related offenses.

He is bring held without bail for the murder of King.

Several members of Montana's entourage were questioned after the shooting. Investigators say Montana and Philly rap phenom Meek Mill were on the bus when the murder occurred. Montana told investigators he didn't even know what was happening outside until his entourage told him. He also claimed he didn't know King, but gave the victim's family his "regards."

Police have not yet revealed whether King was Briggs' intended target.

Montana is a Moroccan-born rapper currently signed with Bad Boy Records, according to his bio. His debut album featuring Nicki Minaj is scheduled to drop on May 21.
