Gunman on the Loose After Holding 7-Year-Old Hostage: Cops

A Delaware County man is on the loose after a hostage standoff in Upland, PA.

Police say that around 5 a.m. on Sunday, Hanyif Curry approached his ex-girlfriend outside of her home on 3rd Street.

Curry allegedly placed a gun to her head and forced her into her house where he held her and her 7-year-old son hostage.

The woman managed to get out of the house at 8:45 a.m. and call 911 while her son was still inside with Curry.

Police say Curry then barricaded himself inside the home, though as far as they know he did not threaten to harm the boy.

Neighbors were evacuated, and a SWAT team was called in to manage the scene.

Police were able to get the child out around 12:15 p.m. However, by then Curry was long gone, with the child claiming that he had left awhile before.

Curry is currently on the loose and wanted for an assault charge, with more charges pending.

If you have any information on Curry's whereabouts, please call the Delaware County Police.
