Apples a Draw as Pa. Farm Show Closes

The 98th Pennsylvania Farm Show is drawing to a close, but there's plenty for last-minute visitors to see and do.

Thousands of apples from orchards across the state will be sold at or below market prices at an auction Saturday, the eighth and final day of the annual show.

Julie Bancroft of the Pennsylvania Apple Marketing Program told the York Daily Record/Sunday News that large numbers of people turn out for the event.

Horse lovers are unlikely to be disappointed. Saturday's events feature an equine showcase and a farm class horse pulling contest.

Then there's the ever-popular food court. Jim Sharp, the farm show's manager of competitive agricultural events, says he likes the bacon stand best of all.
