Ruling Expected in NJ Ex-Husband Pig Mask Murder

A judge is expected to rule in the next week or two on whether statements to police by a man charged with killing his wife can be used at trial.

Anthony Novellino is charged in the 2010 murder of his ex-wife, Judith. Police say he stabbed her 84 times and covered her face with Halloween pig mask. The couple had recently divorced.

In state Superior Court in Morristown Monday, the Denville resident's lawyer argued the statements should be suppressed because detectives had made a secret agreement with Novellino to persuade him to talk.

The Daily Record reports David Glazer argued the agreement made it impossible for Novellino to knowingly and voluntarily waive his right to remain silent.

Novellino was captured in Washington state several days after the murder.
