Amtrak Renames Station in VP Biden's Honor

Amtrak has renamed its Wilmington station in honor of Vice President Joe Biden.

At a re-dedication ceremony on Saturday, Amtrak said the station will be known as the Joseph R. Biden Jr. Railroad Station. The station completed a two-year, $37.7 million renovation project. It still will be known as Wilmington station on train timetables.

Biden said during the ceremony that he did not deserve such an honor, unless he's being rewarded because of longevity. As a U.S. Senator, Biden commuted daily from the Wilmington station to Washington for 36 years. He's known for telling stories about the people he met riding the train and the relationships he's made with Amtrak employees.
