Woman Survives 15 Hours in Woods After Crash

A woman was fighting for her life Thursday after spending nearly 15 hours in the woods after crashing her car in Berks County.

Her car went off Route 422 and overturned in Amity Township around midnight.

Neighbors in the area say they heard a loud bang, but dismissed it as normal highway noise. It wasn't until Thursday afternoon around three that a man found skid marks that led him to the wreck.

He then found the victim lying on the ground about 40 feet from the wreck, cops said.

She was conscious, but in bad shape.

The woman had several broken bones and a broken jaw, which police believe prevented her from shouting out for help.

The victim was taken to an area hospital where she was listed in critical condition Thursday night.

Amity Township police say it's likely someone rear-ended the victim and caused her to veer into the woods.
