American Flag Burned at Chesco Church: Cops

Police say someone snatched the American flag from the West Grove Presbyterian Church on West Evergreen Street in West Grove, burned it, and then left the charred remains in a puddle of water outside the church.

Police are investigating a flag burning at a Chester County church.

Police say someone snatched the American flag from the West Grove Presbyterian Church on West Evergreen Street in West Grove, burned it, and then left the charred remains in a puddle of water outside the church. It happened between Friday at 6 p.m. and Saturday at 8 a.m., according to investigators. Parishioners discovered the vandalism when they came to church for a meeting. The church’s pastor says he feels sorrow rather than hate for whoever committed the crime.

“We certainly just want to love people, help them find good outlets for their energy and go from there,” said Pastor Charlie Gross.

Police continue to search for the culprit. The flag has been flying at the church for at least a year.
