Ambulance Squad Accused of Hosting Nude Dancers

N.J. volunteer squad hosted parties with nude dancers and prostitutes, officials say

A Woodbridge First Aid squad turned on the red light and partied with prostitutes, officials say.

Township officials are accusing a New Jersey volunteer ambulance company of hosting parties with nude dancers and prostitutes.

However, the attorney for Avenel-Colonia First Aid Squad says Woodbridge officials are engaged in a politically-motivated “public smear campaign.”

Township officials announced on Wednesday that police on July 14 charged a man, who is not a squad member, with promoting prostitution in the squad's building.

The attorney for the squad plans on filing an 11-count defamation suit against the township seeking damages. The lawsuit claims ethics and open-government violations by the mayor and the town council, reports mycentraljersey.com.

The fight between the town officials and the ambulance company began last month when Mayor John McCormac suspended the squad after police charged seven squad members with criminal trespass into a vacant skating rink.

The skating rink trespass charges came after police saw photos of the alleged trip on the Facebook page of one of the squad members.

After the alleged rink incident, McCormac signed an executive order so that no 911 calls went to that particular ambulance company. The mayor's order redirected all 911 calls from the Avenel-Colonia District to the Woodbridge Township Ambulance and Rescue Squad, reports mycentraljersey.com.

The squad charges patients for services and its captains are paid.
