Police Arrest Alleged Kidnapper, Find Abducted Teen Who Prompted Amber Alert Safe

A Wilkes-Barre teen who police said was abducted from her home by an armed man Thursday night, prompting an Amber Alert, has been found safe, authorities said.

Authorities said in an alert just before 2:30 a.m. that police found 16-year-old Jena Patterson unharmed and arrested Walter Lewis, the man accused of abducting her from her home on East View Drive in Wilkes-Barre. The two were reportedly found near Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, according to WNEP.

Patterson, police said, was taken from her home by Lewis, her ex-boyfriend, about 11 p.m. Thursday. It was not immediately clear Saturday morning how police tracked the pair down.

Authorities said a protection-from-abuse order had recently been issued against Lewis on Patterson's behalf.
