Alleged Rapist Contacted Police, Later Arrested

Man caught by police after he called police to clear up a "mistake"

The man who allegedly raped a young woman on the streets of Trenton is behind bars after he called police to clear up a "mistake."

Jonathan Worley, 22, faces charges of Kidnapping, Aggravated Sexual Assault, Robbery, Terroristic Threats and Aggravated Assault following the alleged attack on Wednesday.

Worley is accused of grabbing a 19-year-old woman as she walked to work along the 600-block of Liberty Street around 6 a.m. Wednesday. He then dragged the woman behind a parked van, raped and robbed her, police say.

Surveillance cameras from a nearby deli caught the entire incident on tape. Clearer pictures of Worley's face were also taken by another security camera inside Amigo's Grocery just an hour after the attack after he returned to the scene, police say.

Investigators say Worley contacted them after seeing those close up pictures in the media saying there was a mistake and that he wanted to "set the record straight." He was arrested and charged after that meeting with police Friday.

Worley is being held on $250,000 bail.
