Man Pleads Guilty to Machete Attack

A Vineland man has pleaded guilty to attempted murder stemming from a machete attack that left a woman in critical condition.

Eugenio Morales also pleaded guilty to illegal gun possession and aggravated assault on police officers.

Prosecutors in Cumberland County say Morales hacked the woman in the head, face, arms and hands during the attack in August 2012.

Two days later, authorities say Morales lunged at two officers with a knife as they tried to arrest him.

He's expected to face at least 17 years in prison when he's sentenced in July.
