Alleged Home Invader Captured After Wild Chase

A man who allegedly tried to steal a home owner's gun collection ended up on the roof of a Laundromat after a wild police chase.

A home invasion suspect is in custody after a wild chase early Monday morning in Delaware County.

Investigators say that around 12:41 a.m. a man broke into a home on Lawnton Terrace in Glenolden. He was allegedly trying to steal the home owner’s gun collection when police arrived.

The suspect fled the house and drove away in his vehicle. Police say he stopped along the trolley tracks between Macade Boulevard and Woodlawn and Chester Pike in Sharon Hill. The man then allegedly escaped on foot.

Investigators say the owner of King Laundromat in Sharon Hill reported that she heard someone walking on the roof. Police quickly arrived and set up a perimeter around the dry cleaners, trapping the suspect.

The man is currently in police custody. No word yet on any specific charges.

Tow services were called in to remove the man’s vehicle from the trolley tracks.
